Embark on a culinary adventure with Piment d'Espelette pepper seeds, prized for their unique flavor and cultural significance. These peppers produce elongated, conical pods that mature to a vibrant red color, adding a touch of elegance to any garden or dish. With an approximate Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) rating of 4,000, they offer a mild heat that enhances a wide range of recipes without overpowering other flavors.

Beyond their distinctive shape and color, Piment d'Espelette peppers boast a complex flavor profile with fruity and slightly smoky notes, perfect for seasoning meats, enhancing sauces, or infusing oils. Originating from the Basque region, these seeds are celebrated for their culinary versatility and ability to thrive in sunny garden beds or containers.

Whether you're a gourmet chef or an aspiring home cook, Piment d'Espelette pepper seeds promise to elevate your culinary creations with a taste of the Basque countryside.

This pepper comes from the Basque Country in Southwest France where there is a export control on the pepper itself. These seeds produce a mild heat but are full of the most unique flavor. Perfect for drying and using as a flake/powder. The pods are large and the plant has a thick stock.

"The French government allows only a small amount of Piment d’Espelette to be exported, which increases the rarity and price of these chiles elsewhere in the world.

Flavour-wise, Piment d’Espelette are wonderfully complex, with a rich, slightly toasty flavor and moderate heat. They are too expensive for everyday use, but for special occasions and dishes, they can’t be beat. " Source: Silk Road Spices

Seeds: 10+

Heat: Moderate

Notes: Intense flavor, hard to source, I can confirm after trying the spices from SilkRoad and Elora Mercantile both who claim to have made them from the peppers originating in Basque ours hold the same profile. Gorria Pepper is another name this strain goes by.
