Our Journey

2017–2019: Laying the Groundwork

Long before launching the business, we acquired property in 2017 specifically to grow, isolate, and maintain exceptional pepper plants. Our early focus was on mastering hydroponic cultivation techniques and understanding the nuances of growing peppers under controlled conditions before we venture into rows outdoors.

2020: Launching Pepper Merchant Seeds

In October 2020, we officially launched our online store with 12 initial pepper varieties. The response from the global pepper-growing community was overwhelmingly positive, validating our approach and dedication to quality seeds.

2021: Expanding Our Growing Space

To extend the growing season and experiment with more advanced cultivation techniques, we installed our first hoop house. This allowed us to expand our field operations and continue innovating in hybrid pepper development.

Our growing operations expanded further, including the addition of an in-ground irrigation system for more efficient plant management. We also migrated to a more powerful eCommerce platform to handle increasing orders from customers worldwide.

2023: Recognition and Outreach

By 2023, we continued to broaden our collection of unique pepper varieties. Our team was interviewed by Canna, a leading nutrient provider from the Netherlands, highlighting our innovative growing methods. We also attended our first in-person markets, connecting directly with pepper enthusiasts and seed savers.

2024: Innovations in Seed Saving and Sustainability

Our expertise in seed saving was recognized by Garden Culture, which featured us for our contributions to sustainable cultivation practices. We began producing seed dryers for home growers, empowering them to preserve their own seeds. Eco-conscious initiatives, including a bee-keeping course and planting micro-clover and perennial rye, reinforced our commitment to environmentally responsible farming.
